BRAND NEW MUSIC PROJECT: FADHÚNGARO
A FUSION OF PORTUGUESE FADO and HUNGARIAN FOLK MUSIC.
This unique concept aims to emphasise the similarities between the two cultures: it highlights the literary and musical richness of fado and merges it with the depth and rhythmic heritage of Hungarian music.
DIANA is the only Hungarian Fado Singer, living in Portugal since 2017. Being on stage since her age 9 led her to Portugal, where the Hungarian girl found herself native in Portuguese fado, feeling home in its musical expression.
“In Hungary, we cry in our songs too. Original folk songs have such a depth: we understand suffering. Every time I sing a Hungarian song in the famous fado houses of Alfama, people clap their hands and scream: ‘É FADO!’
So if you ask me today: what is FADHÚNGARO?
I can tell you it’s only a specific angle to look at reality.
Because Fado is Portuguese.
But the Pain is Universal.”
At their concerts DIANA and two accompanying guitarists perform songs from their upcoming first album.
DIANA is inviting us to a world without borders: where we can find our similarities and celebrate our differences.

LIVE PERFORMANCE
May 12th - Malandro do Marques, Lisbon, Portugal
We were invited to perform by this new live music hotspot of Lisboa - where we followed a concert structure which is more traditional for fado houses. We played 3-5 songs, then we kept a pause - allowing guests to order food and get their wine glasses filled up.

What an amazing opportunity: to make fado more known and liked at the Balkans - and who knew that the lovely Serbian people connect so deeply with fado? Serbia & Portugal both know about depth and sorrow - we will definitely return to this beautiful restaurant by the Danube.
