Hungarian Republic Day is celebrated every year on October 23. This day is honoured in remembrance of two great events in Hungary's history. First, when the people of Hungary stood up against the Soviet Union, and second, the creation of Hungary in 1989.
FadHúngaro was invited to attend this special celebration: to perform in front of a diplomatic audience right after the national anthem and the greeting speech of the Ambassador, Dr Emília Fábián.
Performing at the official residence of the nation's offices and the Hungarian Ambassador is a rare honour. It is the third time that FadHúngaro - and Diana Petkovics, as the only Hungarian fado singer - was invited to mark a special celebration at the Embassy of Hungary, Lisbon.
At last year's celebration Diana sang 1 Hungarian folk song a'capella and 2 accompanied by Kinga Somogyi on piano.
